If a sharp burning or stinging sensation occurs in a small, localised area of skin during a treatment, this often indicates a breach of the skin barrier. High-density current can penetrate through this damaged skin. Typical causes include:
- Small hairline cracks in the skin
- Injuries to the nail bed
Action:
- Stop the treatment immediately.
- Cover the affected areas with Vaseline.
- For larger affected areas, a waterproof plaster may also be used.
