In tap water iontophoresis, electrical currents flow through the skin via dissolved ions. This temporarily weakens the skin’s natural protective barrier, which is why it can dry out more quickly after treatment.
How to care for your skin properly:
If your skin is dry, apply a moisturizing cream after the treatment. It not only helps combat dryness but also relieves itching.
Important: Do not use any creams or cosmetics before the treatment, as they interfere with the flow of electricity and make the treatment less effective.
If itching occurs during treatment:
Then the treatment should be less intense but performed more frequently. The intensity can be reduced by:
- lower current intensity
- shorter treatment duration
- switching from direct current to pulsed current
