Skin irritation along the waterline?

Skin irritation along the waterline is usually caused by the water level being too high and can generally be easily prevented by lowering the water level.

When treating hands or feet, skin irritation can sometimes occur along the so-called waterline, where the skin meets the water.

This is usually caused by the water level being too high. When this happens, more current flows over the thinner-skinned areas on the sides of the skin, particularly along the waterline. This can cause more severe irritation in those areas. Typical symptoms include redness, small blisters, dry skin, itching, or mild flaking.

In most cases, this skin irritation can be easily avoided: simply lower the water level slightly. This relieves pressure on the skin and ensures the treatment remains comfortable.
