Electric shock at the start or end of treatment?

A brief electric shock may occur at the start or end of the treatment if the device is not switched on or off in the correct order.

If you feel a brief electric shock at the start or end of the treatment, this is usually because the device was not switched on or off in the correct order. This involves closing or opening the circuit whilst the device is still switched on, which causes a small, sudden surge of voltage – similar to a mild ‘electric fence effect’.

How to avoid this:

  • At the start of the treatment: First switch on the device. Only then close the circuit, i.e. remove your hands/feet from the baths or take off the electrodes.
  • At the end of the treatment: First open the circuit, i.e. remove your hands/feet from the baths or take off the electrodes. Only then switch off the device.
