Saalio textile electrodes
Tap water iontophoresis isn’t just effective for excessive sweating on the hands, feet and underarms. With the Saalio® textile electrodes, you can also safely treat other areas such as the face, neck or back and reduce sweating there.
The Saalio® textile electrodes are designed so that the current is distributed evenly and safely:
- soft, three-layer sponge cloth
- integrated, soft carbon fibres as conductors
- pre-shaped electrode contours for a good fit on the skin
The electrodes are always used in conjunction with the Saalio® DE Set. To do this, place your hands or feet in a treatment tub – these serve as the counter-electrode.
Important: Certain areas of the body must not be treated (see “Practical use”).

Excessive sweating on the face is harder to conceal than on other parts of the body. The stress this causes exacerbates the sweating that is already occurring. Sweating very often occurs in the so-called T-zone (forehead, nose, upper lip and chin).
The anatomically contoured Saalio® facial electrode lies flat against the contours of the face without any pressure. The mask completely covers the particularly sensitive T-zone, including the nose. The multi-layered construction also ensures that the water-soaked electrode is highly flexible and pliable, comparable to a wet towel.

The Saalio® forehead electrode is ideal when facial sweating mainly affects the forehead. The forehead electrode allows for more targeted treatment of this area. With the larger facial electrode, the current would be distributed over a larger area.
For the forehead, face and neck electrodes, both hands or feet are used as the counter-electrode. This ensures that the counter-electrode always covers an area at least as large as the electrode itself.

The neck electrode is shaped to fit snugly around the contours of the back of the head, neck and shoulders.
It is secured with a flexible strap.

Sweating on the back, chest and abdomen often affects large areas of skin. That is why the Saalio® body electrodes consist of two electrodes, so that a larger area can be treated.
To make it easier to attach the electrodes to the body, they are connected by an adjustable strap. The strap also maintains a minimum distance between the electrodes. This ensures that the current is distributed evenly across the skin. Without sufficient distance, the current would mainly flow directly between the two electrodes.
If necessary, the strap can also be cut and the electrodes placed individually.

Excessive sweating can affect a wide variety of areas of the body. These include, amongst others, the groin and buttocks. Although this is not particularly common, it is often very distressing for those affected.
For these areas of the body, which can vary considerably, there are so-called universal electrodes. They can be folded or bent as required to ensure a good fit. Plain cling film is suitable for securing the electrode. It presses the electrode evenly against the skin and also prevents the water from evaporating during use.
A second universal electrode, or even the hands and feet in conjunction with the treatment bath, can serve as a counter-electrode.

If any questions or issues arise during the course of treatment, the Saalio Helpdesk will provide the relevant answers or suggest solutions.
